DESCRIPTION:Featured speaker: Ron Ruhnke\, “Trauma\, Overcoming Adversity\, and Some Thoughts About Why We Are the Way We Are” \nMusical guest: Fenwa Teryen (https://www.facebook.com/FenwaTeryen/) \nRon attended a one-room\, country grade school in Doniphan County\, Kansas. There were 24 students in his high school graduation class. He graduated from Emporia State University (then Kansas State Teachers College) with a BSE\, majoring in mathematics and German. He studied a year in Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship\, and then taught high school for three years in Salina\, Kansas. He received his PhD in counseling psychology from The University of Texas at Austin. He spent a summer at the University of Oklahoma\, Norman\, and a summer at the United States International University in San Diego. He worked in a residential\, drug rehabilitation treatment program in Lincoln\, Nebraska. He spent most of his professional life working as a psychologist at Family Guidance Center for Behavioral Healthcare in St. Joseph\, Missouri\, doing therapy and psychological testing.
