SUMMARY:Sunday Gathering: Michelle Morgan\, Nicaragua Humanitarian Trip
DESCRIPTION:Doors open at 10:30 am for coffee and conversation.\nSunday Gathering begins at 11 a.m.\nChild care is provided. Everyone is welcome!\nProgram ends at 12:30 p.m. \nFeatured Speakers: Michelle Morgan\, Mobility Matters/Oasis’ Inaugural Humanitarian Trip to Nicaragua\nCommunity Moment: Erin Eaton\nMusical Guest: JT Eberhard \nMichelle Morgan will report on Mobility Matters/Oasis’ first humanitarian trip to assemble and deliver wheelchairs in Nicaragua. \nAbout the speaker: Michelle has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and a minor in psychology\, but after graduating cum laude\, worked only briefly in her field of study before giving up her career to be a full-time homeschool mom\, as commanded by her then-held Christian beliefs. During her years in ministry\, Michelle served as a youth minister\, women’s ministry teacher and Christian counselor; sang with the worship team; traveled to Mexico and Nicaragua on mission trips; and\, prior to her deconversion\, was in the process of relocating to Nicaragua as a full-time missionary. However\, after 16 years of devout service and ministry as an evangelical Christian\, Michelle came to believe there wasn’t adequate support for her long-held fundamentalist religious beliefs. \n*By participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (https://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/).

SUMMARY:KC Oasis Volunteers at Micah Ministry
DESCRIPTION:Join KC Oasis as we help feed and clothe those in need at Micah Ministry! \nThe Micah Ministry is a charitable organization that seeks to help anyone\, regardless of race\, gender\, religious (or non-religious) affiliation\, sex\, sexual orientation\, or any other trait – as long as they could use some help\, the Micah Ministry is there to help them. \nThe Micah Ministry operates in a way that’s a bit different from traditional support organizations. They feed those who seek their services with a restaurant-style waiting operation: volunteers take drink and food orders and deliver the food to them\, providing seconds if needed and continuing to refill their drinks as needed. \nIn addition to food\, if there are enough volunteers\, they operate a clothing and household items (toiletries\, candles\, blankets\, and other items) store. Volunteers ask each person for their order\, go back into the store room\, and retrieve the requested items as long as they are in stock. \nThe Micah Ministry is a religious organization\, which means that the event is started by an optional group prayer at the beginning. In our past volunteer experiences with them\, we have never been pressured to pray with them and they have always been glad to have us participate in their group. \nPictures are permitted to be taken prior to the admission of those in need\, but\, once people are being admitted into the dining area\, no pictures are allowed. \nBy participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (https://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/).

SUMMARY:Midweek Dinner at Boru Ramen
DESCRIPTION:Join your Oasis family for some Asian noodles and conversation at Boru Ramen in Waldo. Ramen’s origins are hazy but one story has it after Japan opened its ports to the world in the mid-1800s\, a Chinese noodle dish skyrocketed in popularity with Japanese manual laborers and industrial workers looking for cheap and filling food. \nAfter World War II\, ramen’s popularity all but tanked due to famine and strict regulations on food supplies. But thanks to an illegal black market in which wheat was heavily (but secretly) traded and sold\, ramen made a comeback. So\, today you can find ramen in dorm rooms\, kitchen cupboards\, and top-notch\, high-end restaurants. \n*By participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (https://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/)

SUMMARY:Sunday Gathering: Carrah Q\, "Lessons From the Combat Zone"
DESCRIPTION:In the 1960s\, Northern Ireland was thrown into what would be become one of the longest civil wars in history. Known as “The Troubles\,” this conflict would rip apart this tiny country\, eventually making it one of the most heated and contentious conflict zones in the world. In 1998\, finally\, a peace agreement was signed. Carrah came to Northern Ireland in 2007\, as a detour from her residency in Dublin\, Ireland\, studying for her master’s degree. She was pregnant\, alone\, in a foreign country and surrounded by the shadows of war. After realizing the father of her child was not who she thought he was\, she had to come to grips with her own personal conflict. What can a conflict zone teach you about your own personal dilemmas? How has the Peace Agreement of Northern Ireland become a beacon to the world? And what does it really take to create peace\, on a national and personal level? \nCarrah Q is a Spiritual trainer\, yoga teacher\, lipstick aficionado\, meditation instructor and religious educator. She holds a master’s degree\, with distinction\, in philosophy/ecumenics from Trinity College Dublin\, Ireland\, and a BA in religious studies from the University of Arizona. \n*By participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (https://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/).

SUMMARY:Sunday Gathering: Carrah Q\, "Winter is Coming!"
DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker: Carrah Q\, “Winter is Coming!”\nCommunity Moment: Will Manning\nMusical Guest: Seaforms https://www.facebook.com/SEAFORMS/\nKids: Indoor obstacle course \nWelcome to the joy of winter!!! How do you feel about the cold\, dark and bare season? Were you taught that sunny is good and cloudy is bad? This season has so much to offer us in the way of connection and inner growth. The Old Traditions in Pagan circles give us great wisdom in how to approach winter from a personal empowerment perspective. This talk will explain the Pagan Wheel of the Year and how it reflects the human journey through growth. It will also explore the ways in which humanists can gain a deeper perspective through connecting with the Earth and listening to the seasons. One of the best ways to practice Humanism is to connect with yourself. Winter is all at once a time for deep reflection and inner joy. Our connections with each other are made better by the personal work we do. Just like winter\, our inner work is unavoidable. Join me and let’s enjoy the cold!!! \nCarrah Q is a spiritual trainer\, yoga teacher\, lipstick aficionado\, meditation instructor and religious educator. SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity: Micah Ministries
