SUMMARY:KC Oasis Volunteers at Micah Ministry
DESCRIPTION:MASKS ARE REQUIRED.\n\n*Note: It’s okay if you can’t get there until 5:15-5:30.\n\nAt Kansas City Oasis our values are “People are more important than beliefs\,” “human hands solve human problems\,” and “meaning comes from making a difference.” In that spirit\, we partner with Micah Ministry to help feed and clothe those in need.\n\nMicah Ministry serves hundreds of people every Monday evening from 5:15-7:15. They help anyone\, regardless of race\, gender\, religious (or nonreligious) affiliation\, sex\, sexual orientation\, or any other trait. Come join us in helping our less fortunate neighbors.\n\nVolunteers will greet the guests\, serve food\, offer beverages\, fill clothing requests and help with litter control. If there are enough volunteers\, there may be the option to sort clothing.\nThe Micah Ministry is a religious organization\, which means that the event is started by an optional group prayer at the beginning. We have never been pressured to pray with them and they have always been glad to have us participate in their group.\n\nDue to COVID\, masks are required\, and the event is currently being held outside instead of in the dining hall.\n\nPlease meet in the parking lot behind the church\, where we will get our volunteer assignments.\n\nBy participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (http://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/).

SUMMARY:KC Oasis Volunteers at After the Harvest
DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled due to standing water in the turnip field.\n\nAfter the Harvest rescues nutritious fruits and vegetables from going to waste and donates them to agencies that serve hungry people\, primarily in Greater Kansas City. Our volunteers glean after the harvest\, picking what’s left in farmers’ fields and picking up already harvested leftover produce. The majority of the funds we raise helps secure semi-truckloads of donated produce that might otherwise end up in landfills. After the Harvest\, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit\, is the largest local produce donor to Harvesters—The Community Food Network. Learn more at aftertheharvestkc.org.\nThe location for this event will be determined the week of October 31st. We may not know the exact location until November 4th as After the Harvest works with growers to determine where there is food available to harvest. The location may be 30-45 minutes outside of downtown Kansas City.\nIMPORTANT! Each volunteer must fill out a liability waiver prior to the event: https://aftertheharvestkc.formtitan.com/signupplus…\nGleaning FAQs: Read in preparation for your experience. https://aftertheharvestkc.org/home/gleaning-faq/\n\n\nSpecific directions are as follows: \nTake Hwy 210 to North Arlington\, instead of turning to go down to St\, Isidore’s Garden turn North on North Arlington Ave\, cross the first set of double RR tracks.  Turn Right on Birmingham Rd\, you will cross the double set of RR tracks again\, you will continue East on Birmingham Rd (5th Street) to Spratley\, turn right on Spratley and continue to Sixth Street.  The turnip patch will be on your right. \nWe’ll meet at the farm at 8:30 am. There is not a bathroom on-site\, so please plan accordingly if you’d like to stop at a gas station beforehand. \nIf you or any members of your group haven’t completed an electronic waiver yet\, please do so at the link below: \nKC Oasis: https://aftertheharvestkc.formtitan.com/signupplus?fld15=0033m00002uh7MSAAY&fld64=a0Y3m00000LogPO&fld65=a0a3m00000FeERc&fld66=a0X3m00000VhhSUEAZ#/ \n\n*By participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (http://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/).

SUMMARY:KC Oasis Volunteers at Micah Ministry
DESCRIPTION:MASKS ARE REQUIRED.\n*Note: It’s okay if you can’t get there until 5:15-5:30.\nAt Kansas City Oasis our values are “People are more important than beliefs\,” “human hands solve human problems\,” and “meaning comes from making a difference.” In that spirit\, we partner with Micah Ministry to help feed and clothe those in need.\nMicah Ministry serves hundreds of people every Monday evening from 5:15-7:15. They help anyone\, regardless of race\, gender\, religious (or nonreligious) affiliation\, sex\, sexual orientation\, or any other trait. Come join us in helping our less fortunate neighbors.\nVolunteers will greet the guests\, serve food\, offer beverages\, fill clothing requests and help with litter control. If there are enough volunteers\, there may be the option to sort clothing.\nThe Micah Ministry is a religious organization\, which means that the event is started by an optional group prayer at the beginning. We have never been pressured to pray with them and they have always been glad to have us participate in their group.\nDue to COVID\, masks are required\, and the event is currently being held outside instead of in the dining hall.\nPlease meet in the parking lot behind the church\, where we will get our volunteer assignments.\nBy participating in this event\, you agree to abide by the Oasis Code of Conduct (http://www.kcoasis.org/about-oasis/code-of-conduct/).
