Featured speaker and musical guest: Calvin Arsenia (https://www.calvinarsenia.com/)
Community moment: JJ Cantrell
Singer, harpist, and author Calvin Arsenia has built a reputation for turning the arts world on its head. Voted Kanas City’s Best Musician 2018-2023 (The Pitch), and featured on Billboard.com, NPR.org, NEWNOWNEXT, Pride.com, and GRAMMY.com, Arsenia’s angelic stylings on voice and harp create rare harmonies and arrangements that look past the boundaries of his traditional gospel and classical upbringing.
Calvin will share pictures and songs from his last record, “Paradise.” He will also share the story of discovering his most recent enslaved ancestor, Alice; how reimagining the Genesis creation story has brought about a personal renaissance; and learning to manage difficult truths by talking about them more openly.
