Musical guest: TBA
Community moment: Jenevieve Nelson
Featured speaker: Stacey Davis, “Nature Is for Everyone!”
Some people think you have to travel far from the city to enjoy nature, but nature can be found close to everyone. Whether in the city or suburbs, wildlife and native plants thrive in KC. Explore the Missouri Department of Conservation areas in the metro, learn how we team up with partners to bring nature close to home and hear some of the amazing success stories of the Missouri Department of Conservation. Presentation will include lots of photos of plants and animals to help keep even young attendees’ attention. Following the conclusion of the meeting, Discovery Center staff will be on hand inside the building for 30 minutes so you can meet one of our animal ambassadors and see our facility. Feel free to stay on the grounds for as long as you like. There are picnic tables, a nature play area and plenty of trails to explore!
Stacey Davis is the manager of the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center, a Missouri Department of Conservation nature center, with 20 years of experience bringing nature to Missouri’s citizens. A biologist by training, she has a deep appreciation for some of our unsung critters like the Ozark hellbender and eastern must turtle and has cultivated a love for native plants. When not educating the public she is an avid backpacker, canoeist and bow hunter.
