This event has been canceled due to standing water in the turnip field.
After the Harvest rescues nutritious fruits and vegetables from going to waste and donates them to agencies that serve hungry people, primarily in Greater Kansas City. Our volunteers glean after the harvest, picking what’s left in farmers’ fields and picking up already harvested leftover produce. The majority of the funds we raise helps secure semi-truckloads of donated produce that might otherwise end up in landfills. After the Harvest, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the largest local produce donor to Harvesters—The Community Food Network. Learn more at aftertheharvestkc.org.
The location for this event will be determined the week of October 31st. We may not know the exact location until November 4th as After the Harvest works with growers to determine where there is food available to harvest. The location may be 30-45 minutes outside of downtown Kansas City.
Specific directions are as follows:
Take Hwy 210 to North Arlington, instead of turning to go down to St, Isidore’s Garden turn North on North Arlington Ave, cross the first set of double RR tracks. Turn Right on Birmingham Rd, you will cross the double set of RR tracks again, you will continue East on Birmingham Rd (5th Street) to Spratley, turn right on Spratley and continue to Sixth Street. The turnip patch will be on your right.
We’ll meet at the farm at 8:30 am. There is not a bathroom on-site, so please plan accordingly if you’d like to stop at a gas station beforehand.
