Volunteer with fellow Oasians at Scraps KC! Their mission is to get used or excess art supplies and materials to artists, teachers, makers, and scouts who can use them. They’ve diverted over 300 tons of material from landfills.

We’ll be volunteering in their warehouse doing donation processing and pricing, getting materials like paper clips and paint brushes ready to go out into the Teacher Resource Center or the Creative Reuse Center store.

They ask that all volunteers wear modest clothing for the season and closed-toed shoes. Their warehouse is not temperature regulated, so dressing in layers is highly recommended. You might also want to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated.

They can accommodate up to 25 volunteers at a time, and children as young as three may volunteer with their parent\guardian. They recommend carpooling, as parking is limited, and they will need a headcount a couple days beforehand, including kids’ ages, to ensure they have enough age-appropriate tasks for us to do, so please RSVP with that info.
