Featured Speaker: Stacy Lindshield, “Conservation Corridors: Good for Primates, Good for Communities”
Community Moment: Ron Ruhnke
Musical Guest: JJ Cantrell

Lindshield will discuss how biological corridors are being integrated into wildlife conservation and management strategies. Her research considers how micro-corridors reduce mortality risk in neotropical rainforest animals, including monkeys, kinkajous, sloths and opossums. She will discuss how these small corridors contribute to mega-corridor systems linking wildlife communities to protected lands at regional and national scales, and how these systems rely on the participation of diverse stakeholders. Lindshield will also talk about how she is using corridor concepts in Senegal to reduce the impact of gold mining and development on critically endangered western chimpanzees.

About the speaker:
Lindshield is a Biological Anthropologist and Primatologist at Iowa State University. She is the founder of the Monkey Bridge Project, Inc., a nonprofit organization implementing evidence-based conservation practices to preserve and manage Central American monkeys in Costa Rica. She is also a founding member of the Mount Assirik Research Site that is studying how chimpanzees subsist within harsh savanna landscapes inside and outside of the national park system in Senegal, West Africa. Lindshield is a native Kansan and alumna of the University of Kansas. When she is not teaching Iowa State students or studying nonhuman primates abroad, she enjoys returning to Kansas to visit with friends and family.
