Featured Speaker: Michelle Morgan, “Creating Community for the Good of Humanity”
Community Moment: Darrin Kabel
Musical Guest: Mike Perkins
Michelle Morgan has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration and a minor in Psychology, but after graduating cum laude, only worked a year and half in her field of study before giving up her career to be a full-time homeschool mom, as commanded by her then-held Christian beliefs. During her years in ministry, Michelle served as a youth minister, women’s “pastor” (had her denomination allowed women to bear that title), Christian counselor and, prior to her deconversion, was in the process of relocating to Nicaragua as a full-time missionary. However, after years of devout service and ministry as an evangelical Christian, Michelle came to realize there wasn’t adequate support for her long-held fundamentalist religious beliefs. Despite this, Michelle was determined to continue her international humanitarian work and out of that determination, Oasis Humanitarian Relief (OHR.life) and Mobility Matters (MobilityMatters.life) were born.
Today Michelle and her husband, James, both members of The Clergy Project, regularly attend Kansas City Oasis where they organize Community Groups and Michelle serves as occasional emcee. Michelle has been a featured speaker at KC Oasis, Houston Oasis, Wichita Oasis, Salt Lake City Oasis, Toronto Oasis, and Austin Oasis. Michelle serves on the Oasis Network Board of Directors (www.peoplearemoreimporant.org) and is the director and president of Oasis Humanitarian Relief (an affiliate 501(c)(3) charity). Michelle and James have a wonderful blended family of seven children, and in her spare time Michelle enjoys karaoke, dancing, and binge-watching Survivor.
